Tej started out as an active kid who loved playing various sports. When he was 4 years old he got into gymnastics. At the age of 5 he started playing tennis which only lasted for less than a year as he was forced to quit due to an injury. Then he took up Chess and represented his state at the national level in different age categories -Under 8, Under 10 and Under 12. After 3 years of intense chess he took up Badminton at the age of 11. He was trained by a professional Badminton coach from Sports Authority of India. He played at the State and National level (Under 13 years).He was again forced to give up his new found game due to an injury.He still continued playing chess and badminton for pleasure but not competitively.
Tej came to the US to do his masters in Aug 2005 .After he moved to Dallas he developed an interest towards racquetball. Initially he played casually but worked hard to improve his game and was able to reach a good playing level.
As he had prior experience with racquet sports, he took control of Racquetball in a short time. He played his first tournament in June 2010 and won the division.
TeJ played his first USRA National Racquetball tournament in May 2010 and Won a Gold Medal in the 25+C Men Nationals conducted in Houston Texas and was a Quarterfinalist in the Men’s C Division.
Tej played over 10 Tournaments in less than a year’s time and was able to reach the A Skill level from C Skill level.
