Sathwik Rai

A former junior Indian national level swimmer, Sathwik took to racquetball in 2005 as part of his cardio training routine. Very soon it became his passion and he started competing at local and state tournaments. Within a short span of 4 years and little formal training, he has worked his way up the skill divisions to the Elite and A levels. He has stayed motivated enough to juggle between his full time consulting job at IMS HEALTH and racquetball. Although he does not receive any monetary benefits, he has continued to persevere and travels all over the US playing over 10 amateur and professional tournaments a year.

Sathwik captained TEAM INDIA at the 2010 World Racquetball Championships in Seoul, Korea. Apart from winning the Team Event in the Mens White Division, he also reached the Singles quarterfinals in the Men's White Division. In his very first appearance at a US national tournament, Sathwik won a silver medal in his age and skill division at the 2009 US National Singles championships held at Houston, TX. He represented India at the prestigious 2009 US OPEN Racquetball Championships (Memphis,TN). In Aug 2009, Sathwik trained at the Elite High Performance Racquetball Camp held at the US Olympic Training Center (Colorado Springs) under the renowned coach Jim Winterton. Wilson Sports currently sponsors his racquetball equipment.

Sathwik holds the unique distinction of representing India in two sports - racquetball & swimming. He has also won over 200 medals at national, state, regional and university level swimming events in India from 1990-2000. The highlight of his swimming career was winning a bronze medal for India at the 1991 Asia Pacific Age Group Swimming Championships held at Singapore in the 200 meters Freestyle Relay
