Alok Mehta plays competitive racquetball at the open (highest) level division in the amateur category. He has been playing racquetball since 1990. In addition to playing competitive racquetball he is also involved in promoting the sport by providing formal and informal lessons to other players, along with participating in fundraisers.
Recently, he was awarded “2009 Male Player of the Year” award by the Illinois State Racquetball. This award is given to the player who has not only completed the season at the top but also has demonstrated sportsmanship. Alok played 8 tournaments in open/pro and 40+ divisions in 2009 and he was finalist in all 8 of them with winning 6 out of 8.
Alok has also participated at the international level. In August 2010 and 2006, he partnered with Tina Hagen in World Masters Mixed Doubles Championship and won gold and bronze medal respectively.
Alok has won numerous local, state, regional and national tournaments in the US since 1990. Highlight of his career has been 2001 and 2003 where he was finalist in his age categories 30 A and 35 A respectively. He won the gold medal in 2003 and silver in 2001.
